HOSTELS

There are three hostel blocks, two for boys and the other for girls. The hostels are well furnished. 204 boys are accommodated in the Men’s Hostel - I , 303 boys are accommodated in Men’s Hostel - II and in Annai Govindammal Women’s hostel 287 girls are staying. Our ambition is to maintain a clean and comfortable ambience. We are constantly monitoring the activities of the hostels in order to achieve the following:

1.     to create a home atmosphere  

2.     to induce table manners to the students

3.     to mould the students with good manners

4.     to instill “One among equals” attitude in the minds of inmates

5.    to promote simple living and high morale

INDIAN SOCIETY FOR TECHNICAL EDUCATION- STAFF AND STUDENTS’ CHAPTER (ISTE)

All the teaching staff of the college is life members of ISTE. Indian Society for Technical Education staff chapter, which organizes regular activities to provide necessary training to meet the new challenges in the changing scenario of technical education. It got the best chapter award in Tamil Nadu-Pondicherry section for its performance during the year 2000.

INSTITUTE OF ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS ENGINEERS (IEEE)

“Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers” student branch of Dr. Sivanthi Aditanar College of Engineering was established in 2004. Three faculty & twenty students of Electronics & Communication Engineering branch are the members. Thiru. T. Rajesh Kumar, Lecturer/ECE is the IEEE branch counselor. The branch organizes the following activities:

     Project submission contest in Software & Hardware, etc…

     IE – STUDENT CHAPTER

                Students’ Chapters of Institution of Engineers (India) in the disciplines of Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering and         Mechanical Engineering are functioning. The activities of the chapter shall include the following:

  • Competitions, Organising lectures, Discussions, Seminars, etc on the subject of engineering interest
  • Promoting social contacts among the students

National Service Scheme (NSS)

Our college NSS Unit is functioning with the aim to instill social service in the minds of youth. Dr. K. Sadaiyandi, Lecturer of Physics is acting as the Programme Officer. Our College NSS unit has around one hundred volunteers. Every year, our volunteers conduct awareness programmes, Free General Medical Camp, Free Veterinary Camp, Leadership training programme and first aid courses in the adopted villages during the special camp arranged by our NSS unit.

Our NSS unit is also involved in sapling plantation and in cleaning in & around the college campus. Our students have attended various awareness programmes like consumer awareness programme conducted by other colleges. They have also rendered their valuable service in the Pulse Polio Awareness programmes, organized by Tamil Nadu Government and in eye-camps organized in association with Aravind eye-Hospital, Tirunelveli & St. Luca’s Eye Hospital, Nazareth. Our NSS unit is also involved in saving the precious human lives by donating blood.Dr. K. Sadaiyandi has been selected as one of the  best NSS Programme Officers at Anna University level for the year 2006-2007.  

YOUTH RED CROSS:

Youth Red Cross, a student wing of Red Cross Society is functioning in our college. Mr. S. Karthikeyan, Lecturer/Civil is the Programme Officer of the unit. The chapter proposes the following activities:

  • Personality & Character Development programme
  • Training programmes on Yoga, First Aid, Fire fighting, Awareness on Drug Abuse, cancer & AIDS, Blood donation, etc…

NATIONAL CADET CROPS (NCC)

          Proposal has been sent to start NCC unit at our college premises. On approval, NCC activities will be started.  

LITERARY AND DEBATING SOCIETY AND FINE ARTS CLUB

        Students are encouraged to participate in Fine Arts and Cultural events in order to bring their hidden talents. The students have participated, on many occasions, in youth festivals in other institutions and won many prizes and brought glory to the college.

 POST OFFICE

There is a Post Office Service in the College Administrative Block where all postal facilities including Savings Bank are available. A Telegraph Services is located at the office for the benefit of the students and staff in the Main Campus. Steps are being taken to establish a Sub Post Office in the College Campus.

 BANKING SERVICE

Tamil Nad Mercantile Bank Ltd., Sonaganvilai branch has its extension counter at College Administrative Block. It functions between 10.30 A.M and 2.00 P.M on Monday to Friday.

 STAFF QUARTERS

Staff quarters are available in our college for providing residential accommodation to families of the teaching Staff.
