ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Civil
Engineering, the fundamental of all Engineering divisions was
established in the year 2002 with an intake of 60 students.
The Department covers a total built-up area of 4690 m2.
The department functions with a team of sincere, hardworking and
dedicated staff members who sow the seed of knowledge into the minds
of the students. The department serves to ignite the minds of the
students with the current trends in the field.

The

The laboratories are
well equipped with the modern facilities to carry out even research
programmes.
All the computers
(36 Nos. of PIV) in the CADD centre are attached to a server. The
lab has uninterrupted power supply throughout the day. The
students are given training in handling Civil Engineering softwares
and other fruitful packages such as AUTOCAD, ArchiCAD, ADT, STAAD
and STRAP. |

The department also
has a well furnished Models laboratory worth Rs.1.5 lakhs, which
enables the students to get a real view of the components of
buildings and structures.
Department Library
The department has a
self contained library with all the necessary books.

The department has produced 49th
Rank in Anna University in State Level in the first outgoing batch
during the year 2006. |

Consultancy and Testing Services
The department
undertakes consultancy services like design of concrete mixes,
offering suggestions for consulting structures along seashore, etc,
as well as testing of building materials, viz cement, cement
concrete, bricks, tiles, steel rods, soils etc., to find their
strength and other properties to ascertain their suitability in
construction. The customers are the various departments of State and
Central Government which include PWD, TWAD, Highways, Southern
Railways, CPWD and other Private contractors. |

The faculty of the
Department have published many books and articles in Journals and
Conferences. |

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
SCALE (Sivanthi
Civil Association for Learning Engineers) is the student association
introduced to bring out the hidden talents of the students and
improve their skills in various fields of Civil Engineering.
